Class Descriptions

%>
Intensive Course
(60 Hours)

Our intensive course provides thorough coverage of both substantive and strategic SAT preparation. Students are given ample opportunities to practice their new knowledge. Daily homework assignments are given, with flexible options provided to students with less free time. There are typically 5-10 students per class. Classes will focus on developing the best test-taking strategies while also reinforcing concepts in mathematics, critical reading, and writing. In addition, the course offers students frequent opportunities to practice under test conditions. Most of the Intensive courses are held during summer break.

Regular Course
(32 hours)

There are two formats to the eight-week course: (a) 4-hour classes every Saturday; and (b) 2-hour classes twice weekly. The course seeks to provide a general overview of both test content and strategy. In order to maximize the effectiveness of class time, students are given homework assignments at the end of each class. Additional optional homework assignments are also provided.

Crash Course
(20 hours)

The Crash Course provides a condensed overview of test content and strategy. The class will review the math, reading, and grammar concepts tested by the SAT. Students will also be introduced to the most effective and best test-taking methods. Guided by the instructor, students will discuss and develop longer-term study schedules to structure their test preparation after the end of the course.

SAT Course Material

The Official SAT Study Guide by College Board

This book includes 10 official practice tests from the College Board, the maker of the SATs. It is the only guide on the market that has real SAT questions and is, in our opinion, the best guide with which to practice and prepare for the test. Other companies claim to have their own proprietary prep material. This is purely a marketing ploy as those questions have neither been rigorously tested nor designed by the official test makers. All students will receive a personal copy of this guide.

Barron's SAT

Barron's guide provides a thorough, straightforward overview of the concepts tested for each of the three sections of the SAT. While we rely on practice tests from the true testmakers, we supplement those test questions with comprehensive review of tricky test material. Each student will receive his or her own copy of this text.

SAT Study Guide by Ivy Global

Our study guide, developed by our most experienced instructors, provides valuable supplemental SAT preparation material including effective strategies and sample questions for every section of the SAT. Math and writing skills sections are thoroughly reviewed. It also provides a complete vocabulary list, including basic and challenging word lists, and the 500 Most Important Words. Every student will receive a copy of the guide.

In addition to the materials above, the instructors will provide customized materials for each course to provide advanced tips and strategies for each section of the SAT. Feel free to call us at 1-888-588-7955 regarding any questions about our Boston SAT courses.
